The Kunstmuseum, Den Haag

Probably because of the close proximity to the beach The Hague has always attracted artists and made Berlage, the architect of the museum, decide to use yellow brick in the execution of his design. Mondriaan never made a secret of his fundamental link to the Dutch countryside.

The Kunstmseum Den Haag is Mondriaan’s home base with more than 300 of his artworks in the collection. You will be immersed in his life and development towards abstract art in the midst of famous predecessors and contemporaries like Monet and Picasso and followers like Sol Lewitt, Francis Bacon and Louise Bourgeois. It is amazing to see how modern Victory Boogie Woogie (1942-44) still feels today.
